Leave the fancy hat and white gloves at home and come join your fellow BAA members for English Tea at the Montrose Inn this Sunday (July 3) at noon.

 Plan on allowing two hours for this leisurely serving of tea, scones and sandwiches in the beautiful setting of the Montrose Inn.

 Cost per person is $22.95 (tax included).

 If you can commit to this special event, contact Cynthia Solomon at  before Friday. Cynthia must notify the Montrose Inn by Friday of numbers. The Montrose Inn will then charge the BAA $22.95 for each person  booked on Friday, even if you don’t show up on Sunday.

Cynthia’s telephone number is on your BAA membership list and also appears on the BAA email blast about the tea.

 So give some thought to joining us on Sunday. Then call Cynthia before Friday.

 There was some talk of sketching/painting in the gardens at Montrose. Notification of that possibility will come later in the week.

Final entry for the show is July 11. We expect to see many excellent pieces submitted for this first of what we hope will become an annual event.

*Deadlines for the  One by One Show and Sale are: July 6 – label info to Pat Werden; July 11 – submissions to Gallery 10 a.m. to noon. There is no hanging fee for this show. Please make sure your edges are painted either black or the painting continues around the edges. Also make sure your entries are wired  and the wire is taut.

*We are accepting work from non-members for this show. Non-members will pay a $10 fee per entry.

*Reminder that although the One by One Show and Sale hangs from July 11 until Aug. 6, we are holding a special reception on July 21 at the Gallery from 4.30 to 7.30 p.m. This reception is timed to coincide with the outdoor festival being held at the Empire Theatre starting at 8 p.m. that night. We expect many people to be in the Gallery area. We will have advertised the reception in newspapers and magazines, and we plan on making lots of noise (musical noise, that is) outside the Gallery to attract visitors.

 *Reminder that all paintings will be offered for sale at $100 with the artist retaining $90 from each sold painting.

NON-MEMBERS: Please submit label information either to Pat Werden or Bob Pennycook (bob@bobpennycook.com ) by July 6. Info must include: Name; title; medium; email; phone number.

Non-member paintings must be delivered to the BAA Gallery, 392 Front St., Belleville between 10 a.m. and noon on July 11. You could also deliver your entry to a BAA member prior to that date along with your $10 entry fee. Regardless of when you deliver, the label information must be submitted by July 6.

The show will be taken down on August 8. You must make arrangements for pickup of your unsold pieces.

We’re using the June date as a promo for the One by One Show and Sale. There’ll be info at the May meeting and the June newsletter but the plan is to paint in a few locations downtown, including the Farmers Market, to promote the show. Date is June 23 (a Thursday – ’cause we can’t seem to find too many people downtown on Saturdays!) with a rain date of June 24.

Our regular social paint out will be held in August at Marg and Don Ray’s house in Bath. More details to follow.

We’ll be celebrating Canada Day at Zwick’s Park again this year where we’ll have a booth promoting the show and on July 16, we’ll have a booth at both the Farmers Market and Quinte Mall to promote the show. We need people to help sit these shows, so if you have some time, please sign the sign-up sheet at the May 30 meeting or at the Gallery.

This deadline gives you a chance to have your work on display in store windows around downtown Belleville prior to the show opening in July.

Don’t forget – for every painting you enter in the show, you’ll have a chance for a ticket to win a gift certificate from Wallacks Fine Art Supply.

We’re also accepting non BAA members into this show. Non-members will pay a $10 fee per entry and won’t be eligible for the Wallack’s draw. This is a great way for us to gain extra show revenue to offset some of our expenses, and, more importantly, the invitiation to non-members is creating a buzz among people who weren’t aware of the BAA and may consider becoming members.

Dona Knudsen was presented with flowers at the BAA general meeting today in recogniton of her contributions to the organization during her three-year term as president.

Each month the Belleville Art Association and the John M Parrott Gallery host a mini workshop on the last Tuesday of the month.  Come and join in the fun.  The fee is usually $3.00 for the session.  Posters are displayed in the library gallery and the BAA and on the Quinte Arts Council webpage to announce the upcoming course.
